About "Rapid Refunds"
People sometimes ask if we offer refund anticipation loans (RAL's), as some other well-known companies do.
The answer is no. Here's why:
These loans, sometimes known as "rapid refunds" are marketed as a way for you to get your money back sooner. The truth is that the IRS processes all accepted e-file returns on Wednesday of each week at 11:00 a.m. They then send out direct deposit refunds the following Wednesday, and mail refund checks a week later on Friday. So, the quickest turnaround for direct deposit would be eight days.
p>That means you'll receive your direct deposit in 15 days at most. (Of course, the IRS does not guarantee this, and your refund could be delayed if there are issues regarding your return. But for the vast majority of taxpayers, the system works as advertised.)
Given that you would save two weeks at most, our feeling is that the fees charged for RAL's are exorbitant ((Add up the fees and figure out the interest rate you’re paying!), and that offering them to our clients would be unethical.
